รูปแบบของ If-clause ในประโยคเงื่อนไขแบบที่ 2

หมายเหตุ:

ประโยคย่อยที่ขึ้นต้นด้วย If สามารถอยู่ตำแหน่งแรกหรือที่สองของประโยคก็ได้
ในประโยคเงื่อนไขแบบที่ 2 ถ้ากริยาใน If-clause เป็น “to be” ต้องใช้ WERE กับทุกประธาน
ใน Main clause ของประโยคเงื่อนไขแบบที่ 2 นอกจาก “would” แล้ว ยังสามารถใช้ could, might, ... ได้

ตัวอย่าง:

If I won a lot of money, I'd buy a big house in the country.
If I were you, I would look for another job.
He would travel all over the world if he were rich.

รูปแบบการผกผันของประโยคเงื่อนไขประเภทที่ 2

นอกจากโครงสร้างพื้นฐานของประโยคเงื่อนไขแบบที่ 2 แล้ว คุณควรเข้าใจรูปแบบของประโยคกลับ (Inversion) เพื่อสามารถใช้งานได้อย่างถูกต้อง

Were + S1 + (not) + O, S2 + would/might/could + V-inf

หมายเหตุ:

ถ้าประโยคมีคำกริยา “were” ให้นำ “were” มาไว้ข้างหน้า
ถ้าประโยคไม่มีคำกริยา “were” ให้นำ “were” มาใช้ร่วมกับ “to V”

การใช้ประโยคเงื่อนไขแบบที่ 2

อธิบายการกระทำที่ไม่เกิดขึ้นในอนาคตหรือสิ่งที่ไม่เป็นจริงในชีวิตของคุณหรือของผู้อื่น	If I were a police, I would arrest all criminals. If I were you, I wouldn't go out with that man.

ใช้เพื่อแสดงคำขอหรือคำแนะนำอย่างสุภาพ	It would be great if Jenny could do all the tasks tonight.
ใช้เพื่อปฏิเสธคำขอของใครบางคน	If I had enough time, I would help you do housework.

รูปแบบแปรของประโยคเงื่อนไขแบบที่ 2

1. รูปแบบแปรของ Main Clause

If + Simple Past Tense, Simple Past Tense	If Peter finished his work, he was free tonight.

2. รูปแบบแปรของ If-clause ในประโยคเงื่อนไขแบบที่ 2
